A pair of treen Travel Candlesticks or Brighton Buns turned in sycamore or beech wood.

The wood is unusual for Brighton Buns but suggest that they are English. The dishes have a good depth and a crisp lip. The sconces or candle holders are also nicely turned with sharp ring decoration. The candlesticks retain their original snuffers.

For travel, the two sconces are unscrewed and placed in a dish with the snuffers. As one dish has a screw thread and the other is cut to receive a thread, both the dish and one of the sconces will fit to it. With the two dishes screwed together, all the parts are contained within as a single package.

This pair of Brighton Buns stand out for the unusual timber used and so are an interesting variant. Mid to late 19th Century.
