Brass Compass with lid

Brass Compass with lid

£115

A good gilt brass brass Compass with lid.

The compass has a paper dial printed with all 32 points and north indicated by a Fleur de Lys. The degrees are also marked to the outside edge.

The needle is marked N and S and has a lock that can either be fixed by depressing a subtle button to the top edge or by putting the lid on. The lid has a serrated edge to aid in removing it.

Although the compass is quite plain, the quality of the gilt brass and the shaped needle is very good. Mid to late 19th Century.
