A large pair of cast brass Travelling Candlesticks often referred to as Brighton Buns.
This is a known design that was made from the early to mid 19th century but stands out for its large size being approximately 1/4 of an inch wider in diameter to the dishes than most. A very similar candlestick was made without the moulded edge to the dishes and the ring to the bottom, which makes them sit a little more comfortably.
For travel, the two candles holders are unscrewed from their dishes. One has a thread to screw into its dish, the other receives a thread fixed to its dish. They can then be placed into one dish with the other dish screwed on top forming a lid to contain the candle holders. A simple but clever design that hasn't been bettered in two centuries. Early to mid 19th century.
