An Anglo Indian pair of large, painted wood Brighton Buns candlesticks.
These portable candlesticks are very decorative and probably from Kashmir. They are painted orange with blue green lines to the dish edges and candle sconces. The outside of the dishes have a painted mottled effect.
The candles sconces have brass liners to protect the wood from the candle flame and one has been replaced but looks very good. For travel the two scones are unscrewed from their dishes on thin metal threads. They can then be placed in one dish and the two dishes screwed together to form a 'bun'. Late 19th Century.
