Leather Large Travel Inkwell

Leather Large Travel Inkwell

A smart leather and silver plate Travel Inkwell by Edwards & Jones.

This inkwell is a little large than most and has been well made. The top opens on a sprung push button concealed under the leather. The interior cap is then turned anti clockwise to line up a pin to the cap with an opening to the base. The interior cap is knurled to its over hanging edge to give a better grip when twisting it to open. The cap has a sprung pad to the inside of the lid which presses down on the glass ink bottle to form a tight seal.

The underside of the inkwell has a maroon paper label for the maker of Edwards & Jones, noting them as Stationers and giving their 161 Regent Street address. Circa 1890.
