Leather Concertina Despatch Case
83957
A black leather on board Concertina Despatch Case.
The top and bottom leather covered boards of the case are joined by pleated leather sides to allow the internal depth of the box expand to its contents. The lid is inset to the top board and opened on a Bramah lock and by lifting the lids leather handle. To the inside of the lid is a leather wallet.
The lock is stamped 'J.T. Needs 10 Blenheim Street, New Bond Street' and 'Late J. Bramah 124 New Bond Street', dating it to the very early years of 1900. We have had a few of these Case before and some have been marked J.T. Needs to the leather indicating they did more than just supply the locks.
The case is well made and good quality even down to the interior base of the case being decorated with blind tooling. The key is replaced making this a fully functional Despatch Case. Circa 1901.
The case's smallest size is given.
