This large copper pan lid has an iron handle riveted to it and is engraved with an S above Officers Mess and Brigade of Guards around (N?) o D. Set.
The Brigade of Guards refers to all the Guards regiments and so presumably this would have been used in a kitchen that served them all. Although it's an everyday item it has added interest from its engraving and connection to the Guards. Mid to late 19th century.
