A pair of olive wood Brighton Bun Travel Candlesticks.
This pair are larger and better quality than most olive wood ones on the market. The turning is crisp with the dishes and sconces a good shape and the wood a nice pale colour to the interior. They also have a pair of snuffers.
As can be seen, once the 2 sconces are unscrewed and placed in one dish with the snuffers, the second dish will screw onto the first to form a bun case, enclosing the remaining parts.
It is likely they were bought and used by a traveller to the East. Late 19th Century.
