Walnut Decanter Case

Walnut Decanter Case

Sold

This highly figured walnut box is fitted with dark blue leather dividers to hold four decanters.

The lid is lined in dark blue velvet to cushion the bottles. The maker's choice of a Bramah lock is indicative of the quality through out from the brass quadrant fittings, to the choice of timber and craftsmanship in its make. The corners are edged in a rounded coramandel moulding and the divide in the box lid and base faced in coramandel veneer. The top of the box is inlaid with intertwined stylized initials that appear to be RMP in engraved gilt brass. The lock is simply marked 'Bramah'. Mid 19th century.

Case Size is given.
