This silver plate on copper and glass Travel Inkwell is the classic design with a lid that bolts down. However, it stands out for its smaller size and the fact that the top part is silver plate rather than brass.

Typically these inkwells were used in writing slopes, which were made with specific compartments to hold them. However, they could also be used independently. As can be seen there is some wear to the silver plate to the top. Mid 19th Century.
