Captain Blackwood's Trunk (which illustrates the cover of this catalogue) is the perfect example of how the history and possible significance of a piece of antique campaign furniture can be elevated by research into the owner. It is a good trunk by a good maker that already stands out for its distinctive brass on black leather decorative look. However, being able to establish that it had to have been bought by Blackwood within a 3 month period between March and June 1815 and so probably at Waterloo is rare indeed. The trunk went onto be voted as the People's Choice for LAPADA's Object of the Year.

Aside from Blackwood's Trunk, this catalogue also illustrates a very good brass bound Tea Caddy, a Chinese Export Camphor Trunk which stands out for retaining its original frame packing case, six different campaign chests and two unusual variants of the Brighton Bun Candlestick. Amongst the makers represented are Leuchars, J & W Lowndes and Day & Son.
