A pair of teak Anglo Indian treen Brighton Bun portable candlesticks.

The shape of the candle sconce and the dishes is fairly typical of travel candlesticks made in India during this late Victorian period. The brass liners to the sconces, to help protect the wood from burning, is a feature that you would expect on Indian military candlesticks. The clincher to their origin though is the thin metal screw threads with the lined holes that receive them.

The quality of the teak used is very good and a fine line has been turned to the edge of each dish. Late 19th Century.
