The underside of the cup's foot is marked G & J.W. Hawksley, Sheffield along with EPNS. Hawksley were prolific makers of powder flasks and gun loading equipment. They were started in the mid 19th century by brothers George and John William Hawksley. The company continued well into the 20th century.
Hip flasks have been traditionally used by the Field Sports and Shooting communities and so it was a natural step for the Hawksley brothers to offer them as part of the range of goods they manufactured. Circa 1930.
