Calvert's Patent Buoy Inkwell

Calvert's Patent Buoy Inkwell

Sold

A black enamelled Inkwell in the form of a Buoy.

The inkwell has a brass wire cage to the top which contains a glass marble. The marble acts as a stopper for the mouth of the inkwell and can be pushed out of the way by a pen. The conical shape prevents the inkwell from tipping over.

The top of the cage has a brass disc noting Calvert's, Leeds, Patent. Research has yielded nothing on Calvert's and they might have been the maker's and patentees or a Leed's shop. Circa 1900.
