A cast iron, folding Pen Rest or Stand.

Although we have had a smaller, similar Pen Stand before such a rack can be considered an unusual piece. Who would even think about the need for a portable pen rack ? If something could be improved upon, the Victorians took it on themselves to do so. The stand will take 20 pens or pencils supported by the decorative shaped edge of the sides. The two sides fold underneath the middle section of the stand, with the feet almost meeting. When set up, the sprung bar to either side holds them in the upright position. They both also have a small piece of iron, lost in the design, to prevent the sides folding in the wrong way.

The registration number, 348155 cast into the underside is different to the previous version of this stand we have had. However, it does give the same registration date of 1900.
