The Quartermaster General Catalogue
The Quartermaster General Catalogue
81947
This catalogue shows a number of variation of antique portable tables perhaps illustrates. Our previous catalogues have normally shown five examples at most; this catalogue has ten and they range from Georgian Dining and Gaming Tables to Victorian Surgeon's and Side Tables. The table makers include Hill & Millard, Down Bros. and Allan Jones & Co. Armchairs are also well represented and it is difficult to pick out the best from the Library, Bedfordshire Regiment and Alderman chairs.
The boxes illustrated also boast some outstanding and unusual pieces from the Miniature Writing Slope to the Georgian Travelling Box. The number of pieces by known makers ranks high at 23 and include Day & Son, A&N CSL, John Forsaith, J & W Lowndes, S.W. Silver, Panter & Hawke, and Bayley, Blew & Chapman. The number of items with provenance is also good at 10 with Major General Pack's basin, Governor Rennie's Toiletry Box and the two Sevastopol items particularly worthy of note.
We also have two almost identical toilet mirrors excepting that one was made for travel and the other for domestic use. They are undoubtedly from the same workshop and it's the first instance we know of where two such pieces have been brought together for comparison. The Quartermaster General brings together an exceptional collection of campaign furniture.
Postage to the USA / RoW is approximately £8.50. UK postage is approximately £ 5.50.
