This telescopic, brass mirror is held to its mahogany storage box by a large wing nut to the base.

When this is undone the mirror can be removed from the box allowing it to pack easily. The mirror will swing to adjust its angle or flip right over so that the smaller magnifying glass to the back can be used. The standard mirror has a bevelled edge and the magnifying glass has a simple circular mahogany border. The nut to the brass column allows the mirror to extend a further four inches in height. The box has shaped ends with handles and two doors to the top. The interior is plain. Another variation on the many different types of campaign mirrors made. Late 19th century.
