A pair of silver plated, pressed Brighton Bun Candlesticks.
The dishes of these two portable candlesticks form the case for the candleholders once they are dismantled. They each have their screw fitting to the opposite part to the other candlestick, that is to say, one dish has the screw as does one candleholder and one candle holder has it whilst the other doesn't. This means that the two dishes can be screwed to each other to form the bun which contains the two removed candleholders. A simple, but clever design that has lasted the test of time.
The dishes have a few minor dents, which is quite common for pressed Brighton Buns.
Although the brass versions of pressed metal travel candlesticks are not difficult to find, those in silver or nickel plate are not easy to come by. Late 19th Century.
