Pressed Brass Brighton Buns
83776
A pair of pressed Brass Brighton Buns.
The candlesticks pack down neatly for travel by unscrewing each candle holder from its dish. These can the n be laid into one of the dishes with the over dish screwed into the first to form a 'bun' shaped packing case.
When first sold, these travel candlesticks would have been an affordable option for a young officer or traveller. The manufacturing process was much quicker than casting and used less metal, keeping costs down which could be passed on to the customer. More expensive options were available such as silver or covered in leather etc.
The pair have the odd dent or knock but nothing that is unexpected and a good example of their type. Circa 1900.
