A tin, brass and mica folding triangular Campaign Lantern.

The Lantern is made to flat pack for ease of travel and has both a hanging hook and a pair of carrying handles.

To fold the lantern, the door needs to be unlocked and the top and base released. With the door unlocked, a brass twist catch to both the top and base can be turned to their horizontal position to allow them to pass through a cutout to one of the three sides. The pair of wire carrying handles fold flat against the back of the lantern. All five sections that form the triangular lamp can bow be folded on their hinges to flat pack. The hanging handle has a square hook to the top which also fits over the three folded lantern walls to fix them together.

The base of the lantern has a suspended round well with air vents and a spike to hold a candle. There are further air holes to the top and bottom of each side. The lantern windows are made of mica.

At the time of manufacture, this would have been a cheaper form of lighting but in many ways, more practical than a portable candlestick as the flame is protected from a gust of wind. Circa 1900.

Size not including the hanging handle is given.
