A pair of Anglo-Indian softwood Travel Candlesticks with painted decoration.

The candlesticks are a large size and turned with a bold shape. They are painted with a green base colour with orange on top and given a crackleur finish with the green coming through. The interior of the dishes and bottom of the sconces are ebonized. The candlesticks also have green decoration lines to the edge of the dishes and the sconces. The sconces have a brass liner to protect the wood from the candles' flame. The steel fittings are of the size of a thin screw as opposed to a small bolt and not uncommon on Indian Brighton Buns.

A good-looking pair of Travel Candlesticks. Late 19th Century.
