A set of lignum vitae and steel Travel Cutlery.

We refer to this form of travel cutlery that uses the handles as scabbards to protect the knife and fork steel, as 'Wragg type' as it follows their patent design. This rounded handle shape is typically from either side of 1900. This set, unusually made with lignum vitae instead of mahogany, feels earlier in date. The handles are a little larger in size and the brass collars have cutouts to quickly identify their position for packing.

The knife is stamped 'Sheffield, England' but without a maker's name. Circa 1860.
