A three piece folding Cutlery Set made of steel with bone scales.

The knife, fork and spoon are housed for travel in a leather on card case. The fork also has a short blade and the spoon a corkscrew. The handles all have a slight shaping to follow the grip of a hand. The scales are very pale in colour but some parts have the darker flecks that point to them being bone.

The two part case is nicely done with good lining paper and dividers to separate the three pieces. Although it is flat to one side and rounded to the rest, it still has a stamped gilt star to each part to ensure the top is put on correctly. There is a worn maker's mark to the knife blade that looks to have two crossed keys over a shield with illegible initials to the side.

This is good set of travel cutlery and would have been useful to both an officer and for field sports or picnics etc. Circa 1875.

Case size is given.
