1/2 Pint Grog or Rum Round Measure

1/2 Pint Grog or Rum Round Measure

Sold

A Victorian copper Half Pint Round Measure for Grog.

Grog was rum mixed with water and so the measure didn't need to be as accurate as a Lipped Measure jug which was used for neat rum.

The Measure is a two part construction which probably dates it to after 1880. It has a worn 1/2 Pint stamp to the front, below a Broad Arrow mark. Above the Broad Arrow is a worn round mark containing a Crown with VR and 6 indicating that it is Victorian and made in Birmingham.

The Round Measure has a few dents and knocks but nothing that it is unsightly. Late 19th Century.
