The Mudie Automatic Book Support
Made of dark red leather on card, 'The Mudie Automatic Book Support' is both lightweight and clever in its design.
The crossbar of the A Frame is the same shape as the cut out to the front book support. When the back foot is lifted this crossbar is hinged to fold into the cut out space. The back foot will then lie flat against the front support. The book sits on a covered wooden bar, for strength, which is also hinged to lie flat. The leather is decorated with gilt tooled lines and floral cartouches to the top corners. Stamped with the name and 'By Royal Letters Patent. Early 20th century.
