A steel, sprung Tent Pole Hook.
This double hook has an action similar to a bulldog clip and was made to fix onto a tent pole. The greater the diameter of the pole it is fitted to, the closer the two hooks are to each other. It is made from two pieces of cut sheet steel which have then been shaped and united with a rivet and spring. It would have been a very useful piece of equipment for a soldier or traveller.
It is marked 'D.B.P.a' with a logo to one side but we have been unable to identify the maker. Early 20th Century.
