A leather hide Suitcase with a pigskin lined interior.
This suitcase is partly fitted with pockets to the inside of the lid which originally would have held mirrors, brushes and shaving strops etc. The back of the case also has two fittings which would have taken a removable A board fitted with more pockets to take further dressing items. There is also evidence of stitching to one side giving evidence of a removed pocket.
The case is well made with re-inforced leather corners and a strong handle. The lid has webbing straps to support it when opened and the bottom has canted corners to the top to ensure a smooth fitting with the lid. The lid is marked with the owner's name of C.Y. McDonald. Circa 1900.
