A brass Cased Pocket Magnifying Glass.
The lens is decorated with a faux black and gold Chinoiserie band decorated with leafy bamboo. The applied band has the odd chip here and there exposing the brass below.
The case is made of paper fine leather on card and lined in a red sugar paper. The original price of 2 / 6, along with wg / t is written in ink to the case interior. Without this price you might question whether the Magnifying Glass is English or French. Early to mid 19th Century.
