A leather Games Box made to resemble 2 books when folded and stood on its end.

These sets are typically named a History of England Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 to the spines but we have seen a few other countries named such as America and Canada. A History of India is more unusual but highlights the huge interest in the country that was so important to the British Empire. Chess or draughts can be played to the outside of the box but when opened it forms a backgammon board.

The set comes with an associated mahogany boxed set of counters turned in ebony and boxwood and a pair of leather dice tumblers. Circa 1900.
Closed size is given.
