Wragg Cutlery with Case
Wragg Cutlery with Case
This 'W.H. Wragg Patentee' set is stamped with the maker's details to the blade and is made of rosewood and steel with pewter banding.
The handles are both stamped '11' which was probably a simple device to help pack the cutlery for travel. Although the cutlery is a standard Wragg's set it is rare for having its case which is made of leather hide. The case seam is raised which fits in with the period of the cutlery and the flap is pigskin, used for its greater flexibility. Early to mid 19th century.
