Tull's Rosewood Caddy
6526
This Regency Rosewood Tea Caddy has inlaid brass decoration to the top and sides.
As can be seen the interior is fitted with two removable canisters, that are also decorated with brass inlay to their tops, and a glass mixing bowl. The regular shape of the caddy and the campaign handles to the side suggest that it was made for travel. To add weight to this argument is the name of 'C.L. Tull', neatly engraved to the brass decoration on the top. This is more than likely the owner's name rather than a maker who would put his details in a more obvious place. This caddy is typically Regency in style and the lock is marked 'GR' showing that it is indeed Georgian. Early 19th century.
