Mappin & Webb Flask and Beaker Set
Mappin & Webb Flask and Beaker Set
The four plated beakers and glass flask of this set are housed in a protective leather case.
The flask has a silver plated top with bayonet fitting and the glass is cut with decoration to the shoulders and sunrays extending up from the base. It sits within the stacked beakers to provide extra protection. The beakers are of a good size and have a flared lip and a gilt wash to the interior. Their bases are marked Mappin and Webb and have a M&W logo above Fabrication Anglaise which suggests they were intended for the sale in Europe. The leather case is lined in suede for a cushioned fit and the top extends on a strap which has a popper button fixing to each end. There is a hole to the bottom to aid the release of the contents which enjoy a snug fit. and the quality of this set is as would be expected from the makers. Circa 1900.
