Hunting Flask & Sandwich Case by Swaine & Adeney

Hunting Flask & Sandwich Case by Swaine & Adeney

Sold

A Swaine & Adeney Child's Hunting Flask and Sandwich Tin in leather case.

The small size of this Saddle Case suggests that it was meant for a child to hold some sandwiches or cake with a drink whilst riding. The design is fairly standard for most makers. The sandwich tin has two hinges to allow easy access and the spirit flask has a bayonet fitting to the top. The maker's name is marked to both the flask hinge and the sandwich case. The initials RCB are also scratched to the flask.

Swaine & Adeney can trace their roots back to the late 18th century and are still in existence today as Swaine, Adeney, Brigg & Sons Ltd. The company enjoy a strong reputation. The small size of this set makes it a little unusual. Circa 1900.
