This small Regency trunk is made of red leather on a pine carcass and is decorated profusely with brass dome topped studs, including a swag to the front. The lid has a swan neck handle to the top and a ring handle held by a gilt brass lion mask to the front.

The interior is lined with paper printed with black crosses and the label illustrated above is fixed to the inside of the lid. This trunk would have been useful for smaller personal items and papers. There is evidence that the trunk originally had a name plate to the top, set between the bales of the handle. The initials 'CGT' are scratched in the leather to front. An interesting trunk by a good maker. Early 19th century.
