A larger than standard silver plated folding sandwich or cake tray by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co.
The more common design for these folding trays is to have a third plate set higher in the middle and they are often stamped Asprey. The action is simple with the 2 trays meeting the handle at a double hinge, allowing them to fold and encapsulate it, for travel.
This version has the stamp for Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent Street. W., above their trade mark of Regent Plate. It is also stamped with a Patent number that is difficult to read but could be 1437-16. Circa 1925.
