Ship's Chair from the Olympic
8061
A mahogany and cast iron chair from the 2nd Class Dining Saloon of RMS Olympic
The heavy cast iron base, with the paw feet and a hole to bolt it to the deck, immediately gives it away that this chair was made for life on board ship.
The top section is good quality, thick mahogany and is decorated with Art Nouveau carving. The tub shape is made to hug the body and keep the chair size small.
Circa 1910.
