An oval mahogany Patent Tent Pole Mirror fitted to a brass telescopic tube.

The mirror extends by 8 1/2 hinges and the mirror will tilt to adjust its viewing angle. The mirror is fixed to the tent pole by 2 leather belt straps and the top brass strap fitting is stamped Patent although there is no evidence of a maker's name. The oval glass has a bevelled edge and is fixed to its mahogany back board by a ring of boxwood stringing. These mirrors were made in 2 sizes with this the smallest version.

Although there were no doubt many of these mirror's made, they are not easy to find. Mid to late 19th Century.
The most compact size is given.
