Ship's Rodney Decanter

A Ship's Rodney Decanter engraved 'Outward Bound' and a ship. Early 20th Century.and Homeward Bound
A cut glass Rodney or Ship's Decanter engraved Outward Bound below a ship. This decanter would probably have been one of a pair with the other engraved Homeward Bound. It would originally have been marketed either for ship board use or to those with a nautical interest. The conical design was named after Admiral Rodney and its low centre of gravity would help prevent the decanter from tipping over in high seas. This decanter is decorated with steps cut to the body of the decanter and 2 rings to the neck. The underside of the base is star cut and the stopper is mushroom shaped. It's known that they were made in at least 2 sizes with the larger size 1 1/2 inches tall than this one.
