A leather on brass casing novelty inkwell in the form of a leather Bucket Hat Box.
The inkwell has a hidden button that pops open the lid when depressed. It also has an inner brass lid with pad that forms a seal over the removable glass bottle. The case is well made and the attention to detail, even down to the fishtail handle to the top, is good. The black leather to the base is stamped Rodriques, 42, Piccadilly in gilt. Henry Rodriques were high end London retailers selling a variety of desk, gaming and small travel items. Circa 1900.
