A leather on brass novelty Travel Inkwell in the form of a leather Gladstone or Square Mouth Bag.
The detail to the inkwell is good with a moveable brass handle and brass to the imitation closed mouth. A sprung release button is hidden under the leather to one of the short ends and it releases the catch holding the top. A further catch releases the internal lid to the glass inkwell.
Novelty travel inkwells were made in a wide variety of forms from globes to hat boxes. Circa 1900.
