Brass Bound Mahogany Box

Brass Bound Mahogany Box

£370
Reference

83043

A mahogany Campaign Box with brass corners and straps. The straps retain their original gilt lacquer and have filed down brass screws. The top of the box also has filed down screws to the top to add strength.

The top is held open by a brass stay arm and has a Bramah lock, with key, to secure it. The box has a removable tray, divided into four compartments and is lined in dark blue velvet. The velvet to the underside of the lid looks to be replaced. Underneath the tray is an open space.

Brass on mahogany looks great but when it retains its original gilt lacquer, darkened and worn in places it accentuates the look. Early to mid 19
th century.
