A large, square Leather Case.
It is made of leather hide but, unlike most English trunks, the leather is not set onto a frame to hold its shape. The different sections of leather hide are simply stitched to each other which gives the case more of a country feel. The case lid over hangs down to half the height of the front and the sides are extended with stitched on flaps to prevent rain getting to the contents. All of these things point to its country of origin which is probably France.
The top of the case has a simple design of tramlines tooled to it for decoration. The brass lock has its key.
A good sized case which would be useful for storage. Circa 1900.
