A&N CSL Whip Rack with drawer
This mahogany Whip and Spur Rack is made to dismantle with 6 thumb bolts fixing the sides to the drawer section and top cross bar.
Added to the bolts, there are also 2 wooden locating lugs to each side which provide further strength. The drawer has a standard flush brass campaign handle and rack above to stand 6 pairs of spurs on. The sides are shaped to support 6 riding crops or whips and are united by a bar to the top which echoes the design of the sides. The ivorine maker's plaque is to the top of the drawer and simply notes Army & Navy CSL Makers.
Portable whip racks are known but not seen often. Late 19th Century.
