A small sized camphor wood Chinese Export Kneehole Desk.
The top lifts up to reveal a blue sugar paper lined interior with the three top drawers to the front, dummies. The desk is simply decorated with ebonized stringing lines and a reeded moulding to the top, bottom of the pedestals and in between the drawers. The drawer knobs stand out for being made of horn. The desk stands on turned and ebonized feet. A very good looking, small desk that would have been intended for the European or American market passing through the Chinese ports. Early 19th century.
