A mahogany Campaign Chair attributable to Ross & Co. of Dublin.
Although there is no maker's label to this chair it bears all the hallmarks of being made by Ross & Co. It is possible that it was part of a pair or set, with the others bearing labels or perhaps the maker's name was on it's long departed case.
This chair breaks down easily as can be seen but when set up the height is such that it could be used to dine or at a desk. We have sold other marked chairs by Ross of the same design but this version differs slightly in that the others had backs with fixed upholstery as opposed to removable like this one.
The chair is an elegant model with a good leg and shaped arm. Circa 1870.
