It is likely that the ship portrayed in this watercolour on paper is HMS Dragon which was launched in 1878 at Devonport.
It is signed in the bottom left corner in what looks to be Arabic. This would tie in with HMS Dragon's involvement in the Egyptian War in 1882. She was also later involved in the suppression of the slave trade in East Africa and the Persian Gulf. The ship had a relatively short life and was sold for breaking in 1892.
This picture is well painted and shows good detail. The maple frame is a period replacement and when removed it can be seen that originally it had a mount which was cut to follow the rounded top corners of the painting. More of the Arabic signature can also be seen. Circa 1882.
