A Needlework for the Welsh Guards Regiment.

The needlework is simply in its design giving the regiments name along with its leek badge and motto 'Cymru Am Byth' or Wales Forever. The regiment was formed in February 1915 on the orders of Lord Kitchener and was the last of the British Army's five Foot Guards to come into existence. Not long after their formation they were fighting in France.

The quality of the needlework is very good with the blend of colours to the leek especially pleasing. The linen the work is done on, does have some dirt and is not framed flat with the top of the crown and bottom of the motto partially hidden by the gold slip of the oak frame.

This was likely made a soldier of the regiment as a memento. Early 20th Century.
