A small pair of Victorian walnut, folding Bracket Shelves.
This type of shelf is sometimes associated with use on board ship as its practicality to fold when not in use a boon in a small sized cabin. The shelves have a thumbnail moulding to its edge and a shaped back board. The support loper is also shaped and fixed to the back board by two hinges. Its also shaped to the top corner of the underside to make it easier to open when folded.
These are useful little shelves that are even better for being a pair. They would take a lamp and a book and might work well on either side of a bed. Circa 1860.
Size of each for use is given.
