A Victorian copper half Gill Grog or Rum Round Measure.
This is the smallest size Round Measure of the 8 that were used is made of a two piece construction. It is stamped with a Broad Arrow mark to the front with an abbreviated 1/2 Gl. stamped below. The side of the Measure is also stamped VR below a Crown and with a 6 for the Birmingham weights and measures office. These Birmingham marks are not contained within a border.
The top of the handle of this Round Measure has a noticeable dent but aside from a small dent to the base, the rest of the Measure is in good condition. The view from the top shows it is no longer symmetrical but few are. Late 19th Century.
