A tooled leather on pressed brass novelty travel Inkwell entitled The Pocket Classics, Royal Edition, Three Volumes.
The inkwell works in the same manner as most novelty inkwells of this date with a concealed sprung push button releasing the lid. The interior has a second lid, which forms a seal to the glass bottle.
The inkwell looks like it has never been used, with a clean bottle and sealing pad that is not stained. The gilt brass to the interior is in excellent order, as is the condition to the faux books and the leather belt which binds them together.
The three books are titled Essays, Travels and Poetry. The unused condition of this inkwell is exceptional. Circa 1900.
